In the 1960s, the suburbs of Northern Athens used to be a summer house residential area. Buying or renting a property in the northern areas of Athens, is a preference for a more rural district which are very green and full of trees.
More specifically, Agia Paraskevi, Chalandri, Vrilissia, Melissia are some areas of Athens with cycling lanes, pedestrianized center, impressive mansions, huge shopping centers and parks. It is an ideal choice for families, who look for proximity to many foreign or international oriented schools such as St. Catherine’s School, the Campion School, ACS, ISA, the Franco-Hellenic School or Doukas School.
Moreover, Athens Olympic Sports Complex "Spiros Louis" (O.A.K.A.) at Maroussi, where are hosted european and international sport events, provides several amenities for the sports lovers. In addition, Maroussi houses the headquarters of many international companies and offers many great apartments and houses in the vicinity. The southern districts of Attica
Buying a property in the southern district of Athens, with its beautiful areas next to the sea, such as Glyfada and Voula, offers many advantages. Most of the properties here are of recent construction with a good standard. You can find villas with or without pool or very nice apartments with large terraces overlooking the sea.
Prices obviously vary depending on age, quality and where the street or the building is located.
Some of the southern areas that are closer to the center, such as Argyroupoli and Ano Glyfada are less expensive than the central areas of Glyfada, or Vouliagmeni.
A new tram line operates to and from the center of Athens, and serves the entire district. And as of 2010, a new metro line will open in the centre of Glyfada.

The south of Athens is known for its many beaches, public or private, and you can swim from May to October! Also, there is a large mall with all kinds of restaurants and shops, a great abundance of discos and bars that mainly operate in summer.
Finally, the new ring road around Athens, built in 2004, makes access to the airport and north of Athens very easy and fast. In short, life in South Athens is very nice!
